Beating Lines reflects on moving and rejecting existing preconceived ‘lines’ as a metaphor for barriers and frameworks. This collection is a portrayal of development, inspired by the element of time. A time-lapse can be seen in these five designs: starting with traditional techniques (such as weaving and knitting) to computer-controlled (lasered, machining), from natural materials to chemical materials and at last the progress in the movement and restriction of the human body.

During this project I collaborated with choreographer Helma Melis, photographer Suzanne Waijers, SOLOS ‘s-Hertogenbosch and Willem Meijer (model and performer). This resulted in a thirty-minute performance where material, surrounding and movement come together.
