BEATING LINES | 2014

Beating Lines reflects on moving and rejecting existing preconceived ‘lines’ as a metaphor for barriers and frameworks. This collection is a portrayal of development, inspired by the element of time. A time-lapse can be seen in these five designs: starting with traditional techniques (such as weaving and knitting) to computer-controlled (lasered, machining), from natural materials to chemical materials and at last the progress in the movement and restriction of the human body.

Collaborated with choreographer Helma Melis, photographer Suzanne Waijers, SOLOS ‘s-Hertogenbosch and Willem Meijer (model and performer), resulting in a thirty-minute performance where material, surrounding and movement come together.
